About Breck Sauna

Why Breck Sauna

Breck Sauna began with a simple idea. After moving back to Norfolk we realised there were no saunas within easy reach of where we live, certainly not within an hour’s drive. Rather than travel long distances, we decided to build one and share it with others.

The sauna sits within the open Breckland landscape near Ashill in Mid Norfolk, surrounded by wide skies and farmland. On clear evenings the sunsets can be remarkable, and after dark the sky often reveals stars and moonlight with very little light pollution. Breck Sauna is intentionally small, offering simple private sessions centred around heat, cold water and rest.

Our Approach

Breck Sauna offers private 60-minute sessions for up to four guests.

The sauna typically operates at around 80 to 85 °C, a temperature range associated with traditional Finnish sauna bathing. Guests may create steam (löyly) by pouring small amounts of water onto the heater stones, increasing humidity and the intensity of the heat.

Sessions are self-guided. Most guests move through several cycles of heat, cold and rest, spending time in the sauna, cooling down under the outdoor cold showers, and resting outside before returning to the heat.

This approach follows the traditional rhythm of sauna bathing practiced across Finland and the Nordic countries. The aim is not speed or endurance, but rhythm. Each guest can find their own pace.
